Phantom power on xl camera ?
Hi,
I would like to add a directional mic to my setup (xlr) to use on camera, But I really don't know if The camera have a 48v phantom power (what does it mean) or should I look for a mic that can run on 1.5v batteries. Thanks, Sassi. |

Switching on the +48v circuit will divert power from the camera's power source to the microphone. And yes the XL-2 has phantom power switches on both XLR inputs. |
when you used phantom power is more clear sound than using battery in your mic. (may be for me).don't switch the phantom when you use dynamic mic. which don't need power. some say it might or might not damage the mic. but for me its better off than sorry. only condenser mic. needs power. hope will help

Thanks Allen and Chriostian, Wrong forum! But yet, if you think the mic will work when connected to the xlr adapter, please let me know! sassi |
The XL2 has Phantom power, previous models do not.
The K6 powered capsule on the Sennheiser is an example of a battery powered mic body that works quite well. Just add your flavour of cardiod or hyper-cardiod mic and that will do it ... |
