Can't capture footage on XL2, but can with cheapo Panasonic?!
 

Hey guys. Here's a questions that has me rubbing my head. I am logging and capturing footage for a feature shot on Super 16, then transferred to MiniDV with a keyframe burn for an offline edit. I am using my XL2 as a temporary deck (okay, you can yell at me for that, but it's all I have right now). While capturing into FCP on my Quad G5 I keep getting errors telling me that there is a problem getting data from the source tape. I borrowed a friend's cheapo Panasonic PV-GS29 and encountered no problems. I went back and test captured through the XL2 some footage from an old project that was shot on the XL2 without problems. Is there some known incompatability when it comes to XL2s playing material not generated on Canon equipment? Here's another tidbit. I encountered no problems in playback of transferred footage through XL2 in FCP. Just when it came to capture. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Tim Edwards.
