Can you hear me?

O.K here goes. My XL2 is given me bad audio, what can best be describes as "digital," or like when your satelite loses its signal. I have changed cables, mics batteries and tapes. You cannot hear it in the headphones and is obvious during digitizing or simply playing back on a deck. Also does it when you play it back through the camera. I have cleaned the heads too.

I have tried to attach a sample

Any help would be wonderully appreciated.

I listened to your audio.

I wonder if the microphone was fully plugged into the camera.

May I suggest that you unplug the microphone (if it is still plugged in), and then plug it in ensuring that it is fullly plugged in.

Then I would perform a test recording.

Of course, this may not be the problem, but I recommend that you eliminate the obvious.

Were you using the standard Canon microphone? If not, perform a test using this microphone.

Can you give us a little more info on the type of mic and how it was setup?

Strange that you can't hear it in headphones.

It sounds like the heads on your camera were dirty at the time of recording, so cleaning them now will still not fix the bad recording.

If the audio file is important, Sony Noise Reduction 2.0 which is a plug in for Vegas may be able to remove some of the bad audio.

Were you having a drop outs in the video?

If you wish for me to attempt to clean up the audio (I can not restore any portion where the audio dropped out), please email me. Sony
NR 2.0 is very good at removing pops among other things.
