XL2 Filters

Hello! I am going to invest in a circular polarizer for the XL2. There is a local camera store that sells 77mm filters. Would these work or are there filters specially designed for the Xl2?

They won't fit your lens. XL2 lenses all utilize filters that are 72mm in diameter.

Aside from that, you get what you pay for. The better filters are made of glass, and optically coated and won't be cheap.

When I wrote 77mm, I actually meant 72mm. Will the filters available for still cameras work for the XL2?

Hi Jonas,

If you want to compare with factory stuff, this should help:

A 72mm filter will fit the lens on the XL2.

I own a Tiffen 72mm circular polarizer and it fits and works fine; only trouble is sometimes when I unscrew the filter from the lens gets a bit stuck every once in a while. I found that muscling it out won't work!

72 Mm

I have used B&W and Tiffen Filters with success. As the other users said it is all in the glass but also what holds the glass. The filters with plastic housing are not as good overtime especially with a polarizer.
