Pan and Tilt remote control
Canon makes a very cool -remote controlled - weather proof-
pan and tilt until that includes the guts from an XL2. Does Canon plan on making one with the XL-H1 guts and ability to be controlled by CONSOLE. I would be very interested in getting this question put into the Canon pipeline. Thanks! |
I was reading your post and became interested about the pan/tilt head built on the XL2 and found this article...

Jacques, the guts of the NU700N are from the GL2, not the XL2.
http://www.usa.canon.com/html/indust...00_intro.shtml Three 1/4" chips plus built-in 20x lens with 5x digital zoom... that's all GL2 right down the line. |
Wow Kevin. Awesome find,
Chris, the model I am interested in is the HD variety- that's the BU-50L. http://www.usa.canon.com/industrial_...hats_new.shtml From the website: "Canon USA introduces the BU-50L Remote-Control PAN-TILT Head Providing Cost-Effective HD capture in indoor locations. Remote operation of Pan and Tilt functions can be controlled locally via RS-232C cable or long-distance over public telephone lines." Too bad Canon USA's own website doesn't seem to know anything more about it. I wonder if it has HDSDI out? No one seems to sell it either so it is anyone's guess as to what it is price point is, however, it does seem to be what I am looking for, but maybe it has not yet been brought to market. Thanks again! |

To clarify, the BU-50L is just the standalone PTZ head part of the NU700N, but without the GL2 camera part.

Sorry for my confusion.
So, the BU is just a stand alone pan and tilt head for indoors and it is quiet. Cool, BUT can I plunk a H1 or G1 on it? I need more info concerning its capabilities. |
