Time code loss

I have a tape where all the footage has a time code except for a small section which for some reason dose not have the time code, I can only play that section in fast forward review, it will not log and capture.
Any suggestions.

Hi Terry, you don't tell what NLE you're using. Most NLE's can be put to LIVE mode for capturing from analog devices. The NLE then generate timecode on the fly when capturing. You could try this out?

Hi I am using Final cut studio 2, I am fairly new to using final cut so any further assistance would be appreciated.
P.s Enjoyed your web site.

Terry, look up in the manual Volume I, p 286 Capturing Footage that doesn't have timecode.

In short; you'll using the "Now"-button (Capture now) to get non-timecode-footage.
Note: I haven't tried capturing non-timecode footage this way, so take it as is!

One other solution in my mind, if you able to loan another camcorder, try to copy the footage into a tape which you already have been recording some timecode to (this can be done by recording with the lens protection cap on). In this way you may get footage on tape with sufficient timecode.
