With the footage I've seen I think I know what's up with the sd lenses.
Their resolution is good enough but their contrast is lower and the hdv codec messes up low contrast images.
You can see it in other clips too,the edges look sharp but the low contrast areas look blury.

I'm keeping my 14x in the eventuality of going XL-HI versus HVX200.
I picked one up just before we transitioned to Xl2s from Xl1s.
It's a great peice of glass and by far my favorite performer of virtually all the Canon lenses I've used (16x, 20x, 3x)

But the technology of the new XL2 and HD lens is really nice on the run.
