I posted XLH1 frames from my Birns & Sawyer shoot from last month...
Here are the Canon XL H1 frames from my filming I did in Hollywood at Birns & Sawyer during December 2005. There are more frames to come, so enjoy these for now.
It's best to open these in quicktime and then play as full screen in loop mode. Or you can pipe them off to a HD monitor.. Thanks for posting those stills.
The still life of the salad bowl speaks for itself. I've only had about 20 minutes with the camera so far, and that was looking at the output on a standard definition monitor. The picture just looks great. Very clean. A great lens. Canon has evolved a better and better video camera if you look all the way back to the L1. They've incrementally added more and more important features and motion picture-like controls that have made the XL series a real option for professional work. Thanks again. |
Wow,now that's resolution!
Erm...you website says that they are from a HDV tape?!Why do they look so much sharper? |
What I think is most spectacular, is the almost complete lack of color fringing in the strongly backlit shots. None of my canon SLR's or 22mp hasselblad have as clean of an edge as this camera. really phenomenal.

I just realised they're downsampled to 720p.

I checked the EXIF data, and they are infact direct from an Canon XL-H1.
Michael, are you telling me these snapshots came from a moving images recorded to minidv tape @ 24p?? Say it ain't so! This doesn't even look like video bro! Looks like someting I would get from a professional unit photographer shooting behind the scene footage of a movie! - ShannonRawls.com |
Hey shannon,
Straight from the HDV 24f tape. It's an amazing perfomer.... Pappas Quote:

The lens seems to exhibit some abberations on the left of frame that don't appear on the right! Look at the tomatoes on the far left and the blue halo's!

Nice stuff Michael. It looks clean and high def.
Just imagine what it would of looked like with some lighting. Steve |
