fu-2000 and underscan
 

I was looking at the FU-2000 as a nice light and small monitor to use in the field. However, I am unable to determine from what little information there is about this screen to determine if it will properly show the full captured image from the XL H1.

The screen on that unit is identical to the one on the stock viewfinder but this one lets you have that screen down on your tripod panhandle.

So, if you know the specs of the stock vf, you know the specs for this screen as well.

The stock XL H1 viewfinder gives you about 90% of what is actually recorded -- similar to the XL2.

Thank you both for the information, I think I am just trying to avoid the inevitable of purchasing both the fu-1000 and Marshall R70P or other suitable external monitor.

I have been thinking of this Marshall as well.
I just can't believe I have to fork over 1500$ to focus accurately
I have tried Varizoom alternatives with no luck.
Panasonic?

You don't. While nobody is going to rave about the stock EVF, with adjustable color/contrast, peaking, and focus assist (magnification) one should generally be able to achieve good focus. There was general agreement at the TX Shootout that it wasn't the most difficult of the lot to focus. I ain't that good behind the camera and I can do it. ;-) Though external HD monitors make life easier while shooting and therefore it may well be worth it for a particular shooter to invest in one, I don't agree with casting the EVF as especially bad or inadequate.

I don't mean to dis the viewfinder,
it's good as long as you don't try and look through the eyepiece
(and the magnification records to Tape as magnification)
My needs are a bit more intense as I use a 35mm adapter a lot.
therefor an on cam LCD is Very useful and I haven't seen a good one, really, for less than 1300$
