How to attach Marshall HD monitor to Canon H1 - HELP!!

Going on location in 4 days. Have Canon H1 and Marshall monitor on its way. Is there any special bracket or cable we need to order now to attach monitor to camera? Somebody, please, give us advice. Thank you in advance for your help.

If your monitor has component inputs -- and I seriously believe it will -- you take the cable which came as part of your H1 pachage and plug the "D" connector into the rear of the camera and the three cables on the other end into the monitor. It's that simple. You'll have to swap around a bit on the monitor end to see which is the correct color for each cable. This cable terminates in 3 RCA jacks, so you might have to buy RCA to 1/4 inch jack adaptors.

If your monitor only has a composite input or an "S Video" connector, then you can connect that by opening the little panel on the right hand rear side of the camera next to the power/battery input and using an S Video cable (which you will have to buy) or the BNC video in/out which is located directly below that. You'll have to buy a cable for that too.

The S Video only gives you an SD output.

Best is to use the component D plug to three RCA cable which comes with the camera for best HD quality monitoring.

And, by the way, that cable that came with the camera isn't all that long, and you might want to buy an extension cable for it

Hope this helps.

Harry.

Thank you, Harry, for your reply. We'll be using Marshall hd 7'' monitor with component inputs and that's pretty clear how to attach the cables. I will explain our dilemma a bit better. Our problem is that we could not figure out yet how to attach the monitor itself on to the camera body for field monitoring. We have seen it set up with Sony HVR Z1, but, unlike Sony Z1, Canon H1 does not have 1/4-20 thread on its hot shoe (Marshall comes with a 1/4-20 mount). Has anybody used Marshall monitor on Canon HD and what bracket or clamp have you used for that?

We have just found our mount. Just in case somebody needs it : it's an optional accessory for Marshall HD monitor, hot shoe to 1/4"-20 V-LCD4-MT.

Thanks Wayne,
What kind of battery do you use to power the Marshall and Where/how is it attached...to the monitor or somewhere else?
Thanks,
J
