Even more XLH1 Footage!
 

This time I brought along my tripod to my favorite park in Washington, Marymoor. Those of you who are familiar with the films on my site will recognize this park. What a difference a tripod makes (Like I didn't know that already). The steadiness of the shots really adds to the weight of the image and makes it much more filmic, in my opinion.

Oh yeah, I shot a scene with lots of detail in the forground and background (the circus one in 24f is in the group below) in both 24f and 60i and I didn't really see any difference in the detail on a 42" plasma. I'm sure with a $25,000 HD production monitor you could decipher the differences but to me it looked identical aside from the more filmic motion of 24f. That's encouraging

My Smooth Shooter from Glidecam arrived today. I'll use it with my Glidecam 4000 Pro. The whole setup looks like a full Steadicam rig.

In the meantime, here are the clips. All shots are 24f. Again, this is straight out of the camera, no post work done. Enjoy.

Wow that's quite a preset, Steven! I loaded it up, named it "Disjecta" and shot a few quick comparison snaps. These were taken right at sundown, definitely twilight conditions. Settings for both images: I had the camera in Program AE mode, OIS, Gain at 0, AWB, Zebra at 100, and adjusted exposure until the zebra just fell off.

Once again I ran out of light -- will try these during the daytime tomorrow hopefully. Sorry to be so horse happy, but they're right there and they make pretty good subjects. We just got the strawberry App a couple of days ago, so the horses are on the brain right now.

Thanks for posting your presets with clips. I like the look. I hope we'll see more preset/clip settings. In fact, would be nice to have an online library. Chris?

Also, do I see OIS stuttering in the panning shots? I did my first OIS with tripod panning shots yesterday. That's the last time I do it on purpose. :)

I live for this stuff, this is why I started the Watchdog in the first place. So I too hope we'll see a lot more presets (hint to all H1 owners here).

This is perfect! Well done Chris, I will be adding as many presets for outdoors within the next 2 weeks.

I also own a XL H1, and going to start wedding videos,
I see that you got smooth shooter, I was thinking to get that, but since you have one, I would like to ask you if you're happy with the smooth shooter, is it too heavy and uncomfortable to wear? and if the XL H1 fully loaded with wireless mic rec, battery, light, not too heavy,

I think you would be really pushing it to load up the camera and have the Smooth Shooter cope with the load. I find with the bare minimum (camera as it comes shipped) just about enough to deal with. I had to buy an additional back brace from Home Depot because it's a killer on the back if you don't have support and the vest does not have lower back support.

You need to be in good physical shape to operate one of these puppies for a long period of time.

Short answer is that you are falling into pro stabilizer territory with all your "stuff".... pro = super expensive

When I attempt to download the files to see the 24f files, All I get is text. How tdo I convert the .m2t files into something I can play on Quicktime?

Right-click the links and save the file to your disk... then play them with the VLC player (free app).

why do I seem Chromatic Abberition in these shots? The backpack guy 1 has blue all around his hair and its not light on his head. Didn't canon fix the abberition part with the Xl2 lens? Why not teh h1 too or is it just me seeing things?
