You know, the monitor aspect of this is a good point.. additionally, so is how you view the footage..

I've found that if I view footage (thru the Sony 10) using the S-Video out (which is what I do when capturing footage) it looks like crap. But that same footage viewed thru the output of the BlackMagic card using component out on an the same monitor looks terrific...

What about the contrast issue? I am just beginning to learn to tweak this camera, but coming from a film background I find many instances of very low contrast.

I have also read that using the viewfinder to monitor color can be a dangerous thing, which is sort of scary because I do not shoot plugged into anything.
