Battery life for an ef EF adapter.

A quick question, What is the battery life on the EF adapter please.

Mick

Good question. It depends entirely upon how much the adapter is used. The instructions sheet for the adapter states: "When the lithium battery is nearly exhausted, the lithium battery caution indicator begins to flash. Whenthis occurs, install a new lithium battery by following the instructions. The lithium battery caution indicator will only operate when the lens and adapter are attached to the camcorder and the camcorder is turned on." So while there's no timeline given for life expectancy, it will at least warn you when it needs to be replaced. I think once a year is a good cycle to get into if you're using it only occasionally.

My experience is that even given a reasonable level of use the battery will last at least a year. I always carry a spare, so I don't have a routine of changing the battery say once a year, I just change it when it's necessary.

Many thanks. I will always have a spare with me but just after Christmas I will be away filming and expect to get through at least 20 tapes in two weeks most of which recorded with tha adapter on. I just wanted to know what power useage was and should I have several batteries as as back up.
Thanks for your prompt replies.

In my experience it lasts very long. I've had the EF-adapter since XL 1 came out 1997 and during these years I think I've changed the battery twice.

I've had my EF adaptor since the XL 1 days, maybe 1999, and I've never needed to change the battery. I haven't used it a lot, but it has been really nice to put my 70-200 L EOS lens on it and have some really long glass when needed.
