MARSHALL V-R70P-HDSDI or MARSHALL V-R70P-HDA

I'm going to buy a Marshall field monitor, and I want to know which one to choose for the XL H1? Which one do you use out there?

Patricia Lamm December 12th, 2006 08:05 PM

I use the r70p-hda and like it very much. But I haven't compared it to the r70p-hdsdi.

Guillaume Tremblay December 12th, 2006 08:32 PM

I personnaly have the HD-SDI and It serves me well. It's working perfectly with my xl-h1. If you're decide to buy the HD-SDI, tell me, I might want to sell it to you because I'm not using it anymore

Has anyone tried using the new Varizoom field LCD monitor?

The "new" HD models are down a bit on the page at http://www.varizoom.com/monitorsindex.html
I am looking at the VZS1080BC 8" Color Monitor Kit w/Canon MiniDV Battery Mount for $1099.00.

I like the fact that I can use my Canon batteries directly on the back.

Thoughts?

Here are the specs as listed on the Varizoom site:

Video System PAL/NTSC
Resolution 800x480
Screen Size 8" Diagonal 16:9 AR
Aspect Ratio Modes 16:9 or 4:3
Inputs S-Video / YUV / Composite, with RCA Audio
Viewing Angles 90 (Horizontal) 120 (Vertical)
Power Consumption 12W/1A
Power Input DC12V
Weight 0.84 lb
Dimensions 8.7” w x 5.2” h x 2.3” d

I have no affiliation with Varizoom at all.

I have used my V-R70P-HDSDI with great success. In fact, I'm considering selling it right now because I am getting an XHA1 and it's not compatible.

Nick Hiltgen December 13th, 2006 12:09 AM

I'm also using the hdsdi version, and I also love it, but unlike everyone else I'm holding onto mine so you can't have it ;)

I think it's silly to use anything besides hd-sdi to monitor the xl-h1, but I'm a snob so maybe my opinion shouldn't matter. the other plus side of the hd-sdi version is that it has an in and an out so in a pinch it can be used as a very expensive BNC barrell adapter...

Matthew Roddy December 13th, 2006 01:38 AM

Man, those offers to sell their's is MIGHTY tempting. I could probably save HUNDREDS!!!
But I just found the monsterous Marshall 10.4 in at Adorama for $1789.00.
A steep price, to be sure!!! But what a beauty! 800x600 w/HDSDI!

(Just wish it had a Flip function for my M2)

Jonas Nystrom December 13th, 2006 02:20 AM

Is their any difference between the HDSDI and HDA, in matter of what you can see on the screen?

HDA is a little bit less expensive, and you can use on more cameras!

Nick, what is a "expensive BNC barrell adapter"..?

Bruce S. Yarock December 13th, 2006 05:13 AM

Devon,
It looks like the Varizoom doesn't have component inputs (unless that's what "yuv" means).
Steven,
How much would you want for your Marshall?

The V-R70P-HDSDI is amazing.

Bruce, it's in great condition so I'm looking for $1450, shipping and insurance extra. I paid over $1700 for it in May.

Steven,
Where can I see a link to that model?
Thanks

So anyone, is it any difference in what you see, HDA compared HDSDI?!

Answer me!!!! ;-D

Bruce S. Yarock December 13th, 2006 08:58 PM

Steven,
Is there a battery with the monitor? What are the battery options?

Matthew Roddy December 13th, 2006 10:03 PM

Jonas,
A kind of "video snob" friend of mine said to me (when I was trying to decide if I wanted the HDSDI or Component version of my new Marshall ((in the mail tomorrow, I hear!!! - Thanks Adorama!)) ), "Don't get anything other than the HDSDI. The others suck."
I have no direct experience, but I trust him, so I bit the bullet and went with it.
(Sorry for the language, I was quoting.)

Nick Hiltgen December 13th, 2006 11:28 PM

Jonas,

BNC Barrell adapters connect two BNC cables to make one longer one they cost anywhere from .50 to 5.00. So if you had to run a 50' run to your source but only had two 25' cables and no barrell adapters, you could use the marshall as 1750.00 barrell adapter. not a smart move but it was meant mostly in jest.

Phil Bloom December 14th, 2006 02:46 AM

Shame they dont make an affordable monitor with hd sdi and component

Jonas Nystrom December 14th, 2006 01:48 PM

Steven, is your Marshall HD/SDI sold and gone?

Steven Dempsey December 14th, 2006 01:49 PM

SOLD, sorry :)

Jonas Nystrom December 14th, 2006 02:07 PM

And you Guillaume, is your still there..?

Bruce S. Yarock December 17th, 2006 07:48 AM

Anyone check out the varizoom SWIT?
