My family experienced a terrible storm here in Washington just before Christmas. I took my trusty XLH1 with me and shot some of the devastation. The two kids in the shots are mine and I wanted to create this piece like I was following them around and experiencing what they were seeing. We went without power for 9 days during this time. Definitely a memorable experience.

This is put together only for my family in Ireland and my wife's family in Texas, hence the copyrighted music.

Anyway, it's a monster file (453mb) so not for the faint of heart. My site is down right now but you can still download files directly.

Some of the scenes in the forest are just stunning and really show off the camera's resolution and detail, that's why I wanted to post it at full size.

There are some compression errors in this encoding so it may skip here and there. Something on my computer is causing this problem but I haven't been able to figure that out yet. These are compression-specific, not drop-outs from the camera.

I really like the forest scenes that was very nice specially with the red coat and the green backround that made the red stand out so much. Very Nice!! and the detail on the fire fighter was very sharp.

Good work and I liked the forest scenes best, specially with the kids walking around and the beautyful green color of the trees. The power of nature can be gigantic and do a lot of damage - as you've shown us.

Once again, worth the download. What lenses do you use? It looks like a 35mm lens. Is it, and if so, what's the brand?

Also, I noticed in your snow video, you used selective focus. How did you pull that off? Give us some tips on how you did that with the camera.

Michael, thanks. I don't have the time right now to get into details (I'll post more later) but everything you see in the snow and storm sequences was done with the stock 20x lens. No adapter used.

As far as the selective focus goes, I just zoomed in to narrow the depth of field and used the focusing ring (I never use auto) It's a pretty basic technique. I opened the iris all the way (it was kinda dull anyway) and that also helps.

Looking forward to see the storm footage as soon as it downloads. I just saw the snow footage. Curious to see any outdoor footage using your Letus35xl setup. I thinking of getting the Letus35flip version from the Q man when he gets back to town in a few weeks. Can you post some footage with the letus up on the next time around?

very nice. I assume 90% was hand held? Also how did you get the colors so vibrant? It may be I`ve only shot indoors so far with low light and in dungeonesque situations, so I don`t feel i`m getting the full beauty of image, but your colors looked very rich. Any secret?

I developed a preset that approximated the look of my DVX, I called it Panalook and you can find it on this forum here:

The only thing I've changed from these settings is turning the sharpening down to -1

Ok I haven`t done much with the camera yet, so how would I try using that? Is there a way to get it from the computer onto the camera? I`m new to all of this so thanks for your patience. I know the instruction manual tells how to use presets...but how to get it onto the camera I`m not sure. I`m hoping to get a trainer to come to my company, but only if I can find 4 locals that want to come as well, we can`t pay the full price for just me.
