Please note that many user here are from the United States. Most of them are using the NTSC model of this camera and are not considering the different specifications of the PAL version. This could cause some confusion.

So when they say "... to help get rid of stutter in panned shots I (you) should consider the 60i mode for the camera" they mean 60i instead of 24F or 30F.

To us here in Europe it means 50i instead of 25F.

However, you could benefit of an even higher rate so 60i may have a small advantage compared to 50i regarding the fast pans and movements. It would be interesting to know if you see any advantage.

BTW, why could not Canon be satisfied if you gave them your serial number? They should have their parts traceable so they don't need to inspect your particular camera to issue a conversion quotation.

But don't expect Canon to be responsive. I have written two long letters about various issues and suggestions for eventual updates and I have not received any response at all despite I have met both representatives and they suggested me to write.

Canon are not consequent either. For instance, Canon US has sent out SD cards to people to upgrade their camcorders by themselves. But in Europe Canon says it is too risky for a customer to try so they request the owners to ship their cameras to some few service centers.
