focus and metering
 
On the XL-1.

Does anyone know if the camera metering system is dead center (when viewing thru EVF) and if it has a cicular shape and basically how big. The same would go for the focus area. I have never seen any illustration of these areas.

I think the XL1 uses center weighted average metering.

It's lower-center weighted. But I haven't seen a diagram. Don Palomaki might know.

I did some checking and Chris is right. This is straight from the Canon Australia web site.

"Low center weighted average and peak average metering, whole area average light metering and 56 zone evaluation in Spotlight mode"
