Help for a non-techie
A film was made (not by me - although I act in it) using the early XL1 I bought used in 2005. The (perhaps only) copy of the film on Mini-DV tape in lost. The film exists on DVD. How do I copy it onto Mini-DV? My guess is to connect the camera to a DVD player, place the camera on VCR and hit record, then play - or do I do it simultaneously? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
I hope you check out my crappy-looking, but content-rich website, http://www.BetterFlicks.com. Thanks! |
Make sure you connect it through SVIDEO, not composite (yellow connector).
It can be done digitally in the computer, but it is quite a task to undertake if you don't have much experience. So I would first try it the way you suggested (with my tip above). If that looks good enough leave it at that. If not you need to invest in DVD ripping software (like DVD Decryptor for the Windows platform) and then convert that back in an DV-AVI format. Again, I would try the easy road first. |
Be aware that the original XL1 does not record from analog (composite or s-video) input.

Good point Don! Thanks for the reminder. With all the "new" models out I kinda
forgot about that little tidbit. Thanks! |
Thanks, one and all
Your replies were much appreciated.
