does a lavaliere mic only pic up one channel audio...?

I was using a battery powered lavaliere mic through the ma-100
XLR adfapter to the XL1 and only recieved right channel audio..

does anyone know if this is normal?

Sounds normal to me. Sounds like you plugged the mic in the right XLR connector. The MA-100 offers two inputs, one to each channel. Connect to one and you get one. You can fix it in post if you want the sound in both channels.

i figured as much...the my lavaliere mic only has one connection to one xlr channel. It is battery powered. is there an adapter out there which splits to both channels...

Adam, I ran into the exact same thing. All you need is an xlr "y" adapter from your music store. You'll have two cords going into the MA100 from your single lav, and it will play back on both channels. But won't be stereo ofcourse. I love the MA100 quality. But I found It was pretty tight getting the ma100 on and off though.

on my fcp training to learn how.

Adam- I have only used the Azden wr22 wireless reciever with lapel mics. If I'm only using one mic, I can get stereo, l&r channels. If both mics are used, I only get a single channel from each.

i think it just might be easier to double it in post...I would get the same effect if i were to get the adapter i suppose....

Are you saying that with one mic you get left and right channels in stereo? Could you explain what you mean and how you connected the receiver to each channel?

That's right Don. The jack that comes out of the receiver is stereo, l&r. So when I only have the one mic in use, I can hear audio in both sides of my headphones. When both mics are used, I hear one in the right side, one in the left.

It's been a while since I used them, but that's the way I remember it working. But then again, my memory isn't what it used to be :)

Hmmmm. Are you plugging this "stereo wire" into the mic jack?

Actually, I was running it into a Korg D12 HD recorder/mixer. I never use the camera audio if I can avoid it. Now you have me thinking about it, I may have to dust off the mics and see if I'm right, or just hallucinating?

Nour sure about your Korg, but many mixers will put a mic input mic on both channels, depending on the PAN setting.
