Flash CS3 Encoder doesn't read CF AVI's

David, has anyone else reported not have the Adobe Flash encoder as not reading/converting AVI packaged CF'ed 1080p material?

The workaround was easy and fast (converting them to mov's with HDLink), but they failed so badly, it crashed both the encoder and PP3 when trying!

We tried doing uncompressed AVI's as well.

I didn't have time to search for this prob, so sorry if it's well known and documented....

Adobe Flash does have an issue as CineForm and Adobe Flash use the same Intel threading libraries that causes a clash due to the way we believe Adobe as implemented them, and according Intel. There is a work around that I think support knows. If uncompressed AVI don't work either, that is a support call to Adobe.

Sorry David, I didn't make my post very clear. Converting them from AVI's to MOV's is a workaround that works well and is fast. We've had no probs that I can see yet.

Hope this gets resolved with the AVI's, but until then, converting to MOV's is really not too big a deal.

Same solution works for Sorenson Squeeze- you just have to batch re-wrap your CF AVIs to CF MOVs first.

What's the easiest way to do that "re-wrapping"? i.e. avi -> mov

Thanks...

HDLink will do it. Import the AVI under the convert tab, in Prefs turn all the filters off (scaling, pulldown, deinterlace, etc), but set the output to MOV. Now convert. It will be fast as you disk can copy data, plus a little setup time.

Excellent - thanks!
