Intensity as video mixer?

Had a problem today.

I was shooting a video with my self-built Wintel PC + Intensity to capture into Aspect HD from Sony V1U's HDMI out.

I needed to position people/objects exactly the same way they were in the previous day's shot.

Have read about Intensity on-air, but did not have the time to investigate more - like whether it actually supports an image instead of a second video feed.

Basically I need a very simple WinXP-based mixer that would allow me to mix between the live feed (HDMI or firewire) and a static image file.

Image filer is a video cap of the previous day's disposition, which must be matched.

I thought, by using 50% transparency, I'd be able to see through the image, position people and things to match perfectly, and continue shooting.

Possible? With or without Intensity?

Is there a better way to approach this issue?

Hmm.. I think Adobe's OnLocation would be much better

Anton, thanks for the suggestion!

I used to own DV rach + HDV patch, but it was a couple years ago when they did not have Onion Skin mode, I believe.

in any case, I think OnLocation/DV Rack won't work with HDMI as video signal source?
