Where do you start, Mac or PC?

We have a small production company and we use both FCP and Premier (on a PC).
We shoot mainly with Sony XDCam EX cameras and the odd HDV camera.
I´ve been reading up on Cineform as transfering footage between systems are a major pain.

Before taking the plunge I´m wondering how do we start, which package is right for us?

I assume Prospect HD what we need.
Does that mean we install it on the PC and "just" have the codec for Mac on our MP?
Do the codec just "pop up" in FC after download?

I´m a bit confused as it says "Windows only"

Joachim, the timing of your question is good. Probably tomorrow (Thursday) or Friday at the latest we will post builds of our Neo HD and Neo 4K for Mac. This will allow native conversion of most camera formats into CineForm files natively on Mac. As most are aware, until now our conversions all happened on Windows, but the resulting files could be played on Mac.

With these new releases you'll be able to convert files to CineForm either on Windows or Mac, and then move the resulting files easily between platforms. In the first release for Mac we'll support many camera formats including HDV, P2, XDCam HD/EX, AVCHD (partial), Infinity, and Red.

I'm probably writing more than I should right now, but I admit I'm enthused to be close to announcing the new Mac products.

Getting back to your question, you should be able to make your own decision about which platform you will want to convert on.

We'll also have a purchase promotion through the end of November that I think will work well for you based on your description, but I'll save that detail for later.

I'll post the releases on DVInfo initially as BETA releases Thursday or Friday, so stay tuned.
