Could/Should I use NeoScene for DVD restoration project?

I have a corporate DVD, originally shot on S-VHS. I want to bring it into Vegas to do some color correction, audio cleanup and some sharpening.

Should I just work directly with the MPEG2 files off the DVD, convert using NeoScene, or some other option? The tapes are no longer available.

Thanks

Paul, if you're going to be pushing the images for color correction you might gain some benefit by converting to CineForm 10-bit files. The extra precision can reduce/eliminate banding that you might otherwise get operating directly on 8-bit data. You might want to run some experiments.

Pardon my ignroance, but is 10-bit the NeoScene High Quality setting?

All CineForm files are 10 bit. The different quality levels influence how much compression is applied. "High" is the lowest compression (largest files size) and highest quality setting in Neo Scene and is probably appropriate given your project.

Thanks David.
