Release Date Neo v.5 ???

CS5 should be available within the week.
Is there a date set for release of the Neo v.5 products for Win systems??
Thanks

Saw somewhere someone saying end of May.

I think you might see a reference in this thread:

I believe David said a beta will be out a week after NAB - so any day now.

From the Cineform website

"Announcing Neo Family version 5 with CS5 support and 3D editing

CineForm announces v5 of Neo3D / Neo4K / NeoHD for both Windows and Mac, shipping around May 1. Many new features including CS5 support and 3D editing in Neo4K and NeoHD. All new v4/v5 purchases through May 15 include a pair of Gunnar Optiks RealD-compatible 3D glasses."

Good eye, Marc.
That certainly looks definitive.
Very good to know that Neo 5 will arrive about the same time as CS5 :)

David Dwyer April 27th, 2010 10:49 AM

Hope to test a beta before then.

David Taylor April 27th, 2010 07:03 PM

A quick update.... Our betas for NeoXX will be available around May 1. If things continue going well perhaps this Friday. There are a few last-minute items we're tracking down as is usually the case with a new major release. We'll appreciate everybody's comments during the beta period. Hopefully we'll declare production later in the week of May 8. At least that's the current plan!

Robert Young April 27th, 2010 07:25 PM

Thanks David.
You guys are on it!!!

Can't wait!

David Dwyer April 30th, 2010 05:45 AM

Well I've just downloaded CS5 and now to wait for v5 of NeoHD.

Same here. Though I should be eligible for the Neo4k upgrade.

Tom Santopolo April 30th, 2010 06:50 AM

Downloading CS5 now - almost done. Wonder if I should uninstall Prospect before I install it?

Brant Gajda April 30th, 2010 07:12 AM

Good question. Would also like to know.

Pete Bauer April 30th, 2010 09:15 AM

This may vary from what Cineform tells you, but IMO you're safest to deactivate and completely uninstall your Cineform product before upgrading. If perchance you end up with a serious problem, especially if you have to wipe or even replace a drive and start over, it'll just make life easier. Other than the method of activation and deactivation needing emails and therefore being a little bit of bother, Cineform stuff uninstalls and installs so quickly it isn't a big deal. Just my end-user opinion.

Brant Gajda April 30th, 2010 10:20 AM

Well got CS5 installed. Deactivated and installed latest version of ProspectHD. No presets are available, but the NLE sync works with FirstLight just fine.

Mark Leonard April 30th, 2010 05:37 PM

uninstalled prospect...installed cs5 production premium today. wow very nice so far. definitely faster exports. ready to test my cineform files now. hopefully v 5 beta tomorrow? :)

Looks very nice and so stable. I am not used to this. lol!

I can't wait to have cineform working in this environment!

Looks like the beta is not going to happen on the 1st for us just normal folks who aren't doing 3D stuff. I must say I feel very disappointed. Been waiting a long time for the real-time engine, and now that CS5 is up and running I was so expecting to see the beta. I really thought Cineform would have come through.

David Newman May 1st, 2010 01:14 AM

Yes we are running a few days behind schedule, which is many month ahead of when we normally support an Adobe release. In the meantime try Neo3D, remember each product is simply a super-set of the next tier down, so if you don't use 3D keyframing or left/right eye color disparity you are using Neo4K, if you don't use alpha channels or greater than 1920x1080 you are using NeoHD. The changes in FirstLight and the CS5 integration is what makes Neo v5.0 for NeoHD/4K/3D. We have a few more items to complete before we go gold on the whole lineup, the early release of Neo3D was easier for licensing reasons (as it still runs on a v4 license, we can't do that for the rest of the product line which requires new keys and back-end license service changes.)

Thanks David - that does work. I have a question - I have an intensity card. The only way to get real-time output from this card is to use their presets in Premiere CS5, but it takes a real performance hit. Any way that your presets will output through the intensity in the future? Maybe I don't understand enough, but doesn't the intensity presets use their codec when playing back? How bout the Matrox Mini?

David Taylor May 1st, 2010 01:53 PM

Hi Tom, it is likely to use any HD-SDI card you will need to use the preset for the card manufacturer. The next step is to make sure that their support for CineForm playback is as good as the playback we get in our presets. We've worked closest with AJA so far, but I suspect other card manufacturers will offer improved CineForm support in the near future.
