FCP X question
 

"open in editor" on right click on clip is missing in FCP X. How do you connect Firstlight and FCP X to make adjustments?

If not possible, then I guess it's yet another reason to stick with FCP 7.0.3

I know that FCP X has been prodigiously pissed on for months now, and I'm beginning to see why - fortunately through the free trial use option.

I can't remember a more 4 steps backward approach to a Pro App update from any company, but from Apple it's just stunningly weird. The folks at Avid must be toasting the FCP X design team daily at lunch and dinner.

I bet the folks at Avid are toasting at lunch and dinner; at least the ones that are still employed after yet another round of job cuts (mainly in marketing and customer service) to try and head off their losses and plummeting stocks.

Apple certainly take risks, and redesigning FCP from the ground-up was a ballsy move, and one that in the short term might not seem like the wisest of moves. But in the long term it will probably pay off. The next update, according to the rumors, is going to be a big one. Probably they should have waited until that update to release the program (and kept it in beta testing until now).

FCPX was released with a number of bugs, there is no question about that. And it takes getting used to, there is no doubt about it. But once you get into it there is no going back. Apple have released a program that deals with video as digital files, and have moved on from the old throw backs to film and tape, and for the most part it works very well.

Once the folks at Avid have finished their toasts they should have a long hard look at where their choices have taken them....

I agree, they should have released FCP X as FCP Xpress and offered an upgrade path to FCP X once it was ready. That way they could have collected tons of feedback from users and tweaked the professional product. No one would have bitched and moaned - instead the attitude would have been one of anticipation for 64 bit coding to reach the pros. I think very few would have jumped ship to Adobe and Avid like has happened in the last few months. We could have experimented with FCP Xpress to learn the new interface and reported back on likes and dislikes.
