Differences between codecs with Ultra
 

Okay, I am trying to get my Ultra to work with the cineform codec. There are 3 cineform codecs listed and I have no idea what the difference between them are, and which one I should use. So, I have been trying to use the Cineform HD encoder but it does nothing in Ultra. I then tried Cineform HD encoder-2, and it does nothing. I then tried Cineform HD codec v2.8, and it is doing something.

So, maybe I should already know the answer to the above, but what is the difference between the three codec's?

CineForm HD V2.8.x -- Video For Window codec (8-bit I/O only, although under Prospect HD/2K it encodes with 10-bit precision.)

CineForm HD Encoder -- First DirectShow encoder, support 8-bit, 10-bit and 16-bit per channel interfaces. This is non-threaded.

CineForm HD Encoder-2 -- Premium DirectShow encoder, support 8-bit, 10-bit and 16-bit per channel interfaces. This is N-way threaded for the highest performance.

That fact that Ultra shows DShow encoders is a good thing, but it seems like they aren't fully supporting that interface, so you will have to use the VFW codec.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is Ultra?

Ultra is from Serious Magic. It is used for keying. I shot on a green screen, and then put stuff into the background. Makes the family videos a little more fun, even though its more work. :o)
