Cineform just put up the new version of Aspect ... its ready for downloading
and seems to work well... they also added MOV... and other goodies

Yes, it will work fine with Premiere Pro 1.5.1, 2.0 and CS3. Download the trial and see for yourself.

Actually I'm having a problem at the moment converting some 1080i HDV CFHD files into PAL quicktime files through PP (Using H264), the shorter files (15mins) work fine but the 60min files are failing at the mov compiling stage, I'm just trying a 43min file to see what happens.

Subject for another thread, Premiere's QuickTime export problems, we don't think it is CineForm related.

I'm a fully paid-up v4 devotee - and keen to try v5, but less keen to spend another $100.

Assuming I have to uninstall v4 and install the v5, what will happen after the 15 day trial? I won't be using HDLink etc, just importing, editing and exporting to CFHD avi's.

Uninstalling v4 will not remove its license key. You have safely experiment with v5.

I'm still getting problems with PPRO3 and Aspect v4 - so will try v5.

I'm editing a feature in time for a test screening at the end of May, so unfort don't have much time to report issues at the moment... I just work-around them.

Does v5 mean Aspect HD v4 will never be supported under Vista?

Not necessarily, if the updates can be easy retrofitted we will do that.

Good, because I don't think I need any of the v5 features. Unless..."Additional visual fidelity upgrades in the CineForm Intermediate codec" are noticeably better to the average eye?

Out of curiosity, does the $99 to upgrade to Aspect 5 also apply to Aspect 3.2 owners?

Yes, from any version of Aspect HD it is $99. Also remember you can directly upgrade Aspect HD to the latest Prospect HD for additional $301.

I upgraded my aspect HD to prospect HD yesterday, next stop Intensity Pro card.... is that full raster HD I see recording on my computer? Oh, yes it is. Should make pulling green screen much better.

With the site updates that may have beeen missed.

Keying elements :
1) New codec for even higher quality (using the Prospect core.)
2) HDSDI/HMDI capture support with HDLink using a range of AJA or Blackmagic cards.
3) Quicktime support for import and exports.

The codec upgrades are primarily encoder changes, so any new encodings will benefit. This includes CineForm exports from Premiere/AE of your existing projects.

I installed the AspectHD V5 trial, and imported some MOV trailer clips I downloaded from the Quicktime Pro website to have good MOV footage to convert as a test. (shrek3 trailer 720P)
But when I start the conversion the debugging displays an error on the MOV-file were the codec is not supported.
The Move-file plays fine on my laptop, and Premiere Pro 2.0 can read and convert it to Cineform. Do I need to install something extra from Quicktime? I have the Pro 7 installed.

Some QuickTime files will not convert with HDLink as the decoder is not available in DirectShow, even if it is available to QuickTime, many codecs are available to both. If you can play the MOV in MediaPlayer when it should convert. We do plan to add full QuickTime based conversion support to HDLink to address this, although it is a low priority as there are work-arounds like you have found with Premiere.

Is there a list of Quicktime codecs you currently support? Because I have a few clients in the Non-video business who needs to convert many quicktime media into AVI for our media servers. Adobe premiere and Procoder have too many settings for them. I would like to recommend to buy Neo HDV instead when it works with all kinds of Quicktime codecs.

Once we complete the QT interface to HDLink we will support the decoding and conversion too CineForm for anything QuickTime can handle. Today the QuickTime support is about using CineForm compression with QuickTime, which widens our compatibility greatly.
