Will any one make a Cineform Mobile Caputure solution
Forgive me if this has been addressed before but I'd like to know if there is anything planned like a "firestore" type device to capture video to cineform when your away from your computer. A few people seem to have mentioned an adapter that allows for a capture card to be used with a notebook but no one has really tried it out to see if it would work. Please don't mention the Wafian in this.....I'd hardly call that thing "mobile".

I'd be interested in this too.
Also, is there any chance of getting Adobe's OnLocation (previously Serious Magic's HDVRack) to capture directly to CFHD avi's? |
Agreed,
I would like to see a small portable unit (like firestore) that offers high quality (A/D) component in and firewire inputs captured to CFHD. You would be able to sell a LOT of these. |
depends the price.
at probably over 1500$ per unit (likely 2500 with analog input) , a lot of people would preferably purchase a laptop. or for less than 1000 you can build a shoebox sized PC, with powerful processor, lot of memory and huge disk space. |

Has anyone tried a Magma PCIExpress box with the Intensity yet? Or what about the Expresscard to PCI adapter made for testing purposes? I would be very interested to verify if this works. -Robert |

FWIW, we have found Magma tech support top notch when working with them to get the configuration working. |
Oh great!
All of us will be waiting the specs of your working configuration |
Just to supplement David's post, the Dell Precision M90 is virtually identical to the Dell XPS M1710 which in turn is almost identical (graphics card and pretty lights aside) to the Dell Inspiron 9400, or E1705 as it's known in the US.
The price differential between an M90 and E1705 is very significant but the base technology is the same. Mobile Core 2 CPUs tend to be very cheap on eBay and transplanting CPUs is fairly easy - I would imagine that the CPU requirement for realtime ingest would be fairly significant and you'd most likely benefit from 667MHz RAM. The only issue I've found with the material I've captured (video games direct captures) is that the footage is so demanding that playback can stutter on a laptop drive, so I'd be very curious to see how the laptop drives cope with high bandwidth capture. David, out of interest, have you tried the LHe in the Magma box? |
