Flash XDR Firmware Release 0.0.233 Posted

Dear Friends,

Late this afternoon, we posted a new firmware release for the Flash XDR.

This is a significant release for us. This release supports both Quicktime and MXF support.

Our testing has included various formats, 720/1080, various frame rates and 50/100 Mbps bit-rates.

The resulting files were tested in Avid, Sony Vegas 8.0(c), and Edius.

Please note that version 8.0(c) is required to work in Vegas and 6.0.4 or higher is required to work in Final Cut Pro.

In addition, we corrected a problem with our 720p 50 Mbps mode. So 720p now works in both 50 Mbps and 100 Mbps.

We do know of one issue: When scrubbing a 100 Mbps clip, on an Avid timeline, a First In - First Out (FIFO) buffer error may occur in Avid. This is not a serious error. The files playback in normal speed ok, the problem sometimes occurs when scrubbing.

While preparing this release, we discovered some problems in our code, which are now corrected.

We feel that the overall reliability has been improved.

As always, please test this new firmware with your Flash XDR and your Non-Linear Editor before using this release for production.

We encourage others to test this release and report back their results.

If you do need to revert back to a previous release, please be advised that this is just as easy as advancing to a newer firmware release.

Premiere testing?

Congratulations with the latest release. I look forward to testing it.

You did mention before that you were also planning to test with Premiere - any idea when that will be done?

Dear Nic,

Our plans are to test Premiere next week. This is a high priority for us.

Dear Nic,

What version of Permiere do you have?
