Anyone know when the SD firmware upgrade will be available?

Hi Chris-
It is imminent. It is very close, just a couple of extra lines at the bottom of the image. We are tracking down the problem now. I hope we can release the initial code this week.

We're in the final stages of testing a release which includes standard def support.

Here are some sample files if anyone would like to try them.
The compression is IMX 4:2:2 50 Mbit.
Avid told us that Media Composer does not support this directly - we are trying to get more details.
We've tested a couple other NLE's successfully - please let us know if something is amiss.

Beta support for standard def has been posted as part of release 1.0.105, here:

When will SD playback be available?. Not being able to check the first take back or allow the director to review is going to be difficult to explain!

Avid does support IMX 4:2:2 50mbs, but I believe it is with a Sony codec not Avid's. And Sony doesn't allow Avid to distribute the IMX codec without the Media Composer or Symphony software. The codec isn't free, its being licensed.

Calibrated Software has an IMX codec that can be purchased. I don't know if this helps or not.

Dear Bob,

Thank you for your insight.

We will be speaking with Avid.
