Timecode regen on XDR

I've been doing a lot of 3D and multi camera shoots recently and I'm finding XDR TC limitations frustrating.
What I want to be able to do is have my XDR take an external TC feed from another camera, lock to it and then retain that TC when the feed is removed. Presently the TC feed has to remain in place. Also I want to be able to set an internal TC (which I can) and then send that to my other XDR via a TC out function, therefore allowing both units to be jammed together.

All pro tape based recorders have/had this function so when will it be available on the XDR?

Dear Chris,

The Flash XDR does not have timecode out.

Nor does it have "Jam Sync" capabilities at this time. This will be included in a future firmware release.

You may use a Clockit or Lockit box to maintain sync.

If you are doing 3D, do you have your camera's gen-locked?

Do your cameras have timecode out embedded in your HD-SDI signal? If so, then you do not need to "Jam Sync" the Flash XDR, just Jam Sync the cameras.

What cameras are you using for 3D?

Hi Dan
I operate a Polecam system and use the Toshiba HD minicams, therefore I don't have the facility to jam sync at the camera end. The two cams are jammed together via the CCUs' but the TC remains a sticking point. Is there a firmware upgrade in place to sort this?

.....This feature would be sweet to have indeed ! If you could plug in an external TC signal via the LTC in jack and then unplug it after a few seconds and walk away and have the XDR *retain* that jamned TC ! Being able to clock jam opens up syncing to a Deneke TC slate as well.

Dear Mark and Chris,

I also want "Jam Sync".

We will get to this.

Hello Dan I am still having a issue using TC in any ideas?

Dan Keaton October 2nd, 2009 07:35 AM

Dear Lance,

I have sent you an email requesting details of your timecode problem so that we can troubleshoot and provide a fix.
