Confused about Calibrated Q products
 

Hi there,

I'm looking to buy a Calibrated Q product to enable the use of XDCAM Transfer on a mac without FCP, however I'm getting confused about the difference between their products.

I understand that XD Decode gives me the required codecs to allow XDAM Transfer (working, presumably using quicktime) to decode and display the clips, so I definitely need that.

What I don't understand is what the MXF Import product would add to this?
As far as I can see the XDCAM Transfer SW works fine with just the XD Decode product, so I'm not clear what extra I would get from getting the MXF Import product as well.

Anyone worked this out?

I'm going to answer my own question, as in the meantime I got a very helpful email from Greg at Calibrated SW.

The two products deal with different parts of the issue - MXF Import make quicktime apps 'understand' MXF wrappers and XD Decode allows decoding of the essence codec.
Since XDCAM Transfer already understands the wrapper there's no need for MXF Import.
