Current Status of Artifacts in Vegas 9 ?
 

I understand that the latest rendition of Vegas is version 9.0e, and that for editing nanoFlash files, everything has been "fixed" except the "few" green frames at the beginning of each clip. Two questions for those of you actually using Vegas 9.0e with files of 1080x1920 30p, 60i, or 24p at 100Mbps, Long GOP:

1) Approximately how many beginning green frames are there (constant or varied), and once trimmed, are they green free in the timeline (whoops, three questions there!), and,

2) Is the resulting export from the timeline artifact free (free of gross anomolies, interline flicker, black frames, etc.), for all intents and purposes?

To answer your specific questions:

ad 1: there are usually 2 green frames at the beginning of Long-GoP mxf files, and yes they can be trimmed off

ad 2: fortunately, even if you don't trim the green frames off, after recompression (even just smart render to mxf) the output files are clean.

This is nevertheless a real PITA to work with such clips. I usually do multicamera projects of live classical music performances, and use the Multicamera timeline in Vegas. As you know, selecting angles consists in splitting clips and defining "takes"; if three or more clips are placed on top of one another, the green frames make it very easy to get lost!

I use Vegas 9.0b for those few frames I really hav to use
But rudely said: this problem sucks
I gave up, I'm not using the NF anymore, only for MPEG backup files.
The BlackMagic HDextreme gives easily the best results, even in compressed mode.
I can only hope CD and Sony come up with a solution soon.

I would not blame green or red frames on the NF.
Rendering 50Mbps MXF out of Vegas and bringing it back into Vegas you can get the same problem.
