Sorry to sound thick but just bought a nanoflash today and in the box was the nano mains power lead, card reader and usb cable, now how do you connect it to the EX's cameras, do you have to buy the sdi cable seperate!!

Thinking of getting a NanoFlash myself and this is in the box, what camera do you have Ian?.

Yes, you need an SDI cable OR HDMI cable between the camera output and the NF input.

You will need another SDI or HDMI cable for output for viewing on a monitor as well.

Such cables are widely available.

Anthony I have the EX1, EX3/2

Everybody has different cable needs. Not unlike buying a camera: you ALWAYS need accessories.

The EX series both have simple-to-use HDSDI out (I shoot with the EX3's a lot).

Hi Ian, Don't forget to get 2 BNC cables- you need a spare. The 'bundle' concept has not caught on yet in the UK. The Nano needs to come ready to roll.

I recently bought the “bundle” to use on my EX3. Although the bundle got me off to a quick start I soon found a few short comings, for a start I could not keep the connection between ball head and nanoFlash tight, I had other problems also. In the light of this experience I devised a quick mounting system, a clip-on battery and an on/off switch. Pictures of this set-up can be seen on my post: - “An on/ off switch for the nanoFlash?”
Despite my misgivings I think the “bundle” is worthwhile as it provides useful experience and in my case parts to adapt to my use.

OK, where in the UK can I buy the 18" SDI Cable?

BNC cables meaning HD-SDI cables...

For people purchasing a nanoFlash I would recommend that people get different lengths of HD-SDI cables and a spare of the one they believe they will use the most. The BNC 90 degree connectors are extremely useful in a lot of applications and they are cheap.

As an example on an EX3 you have a hot shoe mount on both the back and the front of the camera as well many people will have a rails unit attached to their camera at some point. If you are loading up your camera with accessories, you sometimes (maybe often) come across situations where you want to redistribute your accessories to get better weight distribution. A $20 cable can help you solve this problem.

I bought 9", 12" and a 24" HD-SDI cable. They all get used frequently. I figured the 24" would almost never get used when I bought it. I was wrong.

Hawk Woods are very good in UK. In the old days the Japanese beat other manufacturers by supplying all that was needed to get kit rolling out of the box. I think CD should include a mini HDMI converter as it was an infuriating "gotcha" to have get one when all excited to see first pictures. Sorry Dan did not read small print before purchase.

I met Ian at a video show yesterday and told him about advantages of Nano now he is on board.

I got a Hawk-wood BPU camera adaptor for the EX1 and ones comming for the EX3 and the cable that you need to connect the nano to the camera battery prestons did'nt have any at the show will come shortly

I have ordered a SDI cable and a HDMI which should come tommorow is there only 1 SDI cable because the sales person seemed unsure
