Is anyone aware of any feature films shot using the nano? Thanks much.

Dear Peter,

Yes, there was a feature Hollywood studio film shot last year.

It is due to be released in 2011.

This is an action film and the nanoFlash was used to record from handheld cameras.

The nanoFlash footage when to film-out and then intercut with Panavision Super 35.

I am not at liberty to provide more details.

not as a full lenght feature film though...

We also have used the NF a several times... The documentary we shot this year in India (2 months) was all NF via HDMI (remember the elephants picture?) and also we have used it for several feature Length films shot in 35mm and on RED as a second unit picking up establishing/opening credits scenes. Now I am working on a 13 episode series and NF could be used again for some of the above needs. The show is shooting on RED again. I love the RED and the NF together. The NF is a great addition to 4k RED files down-converted/scaled to 1920x1080p usually ~ 160Mbps. Shooting NF at 280Mbps is not that far out of the RED. I would love to see NF Bit Rate above 320Mbps. To be exact 360-380Mbps would be awesome!
Only 100Mbps more from what is now. Can CD do it? Dan? Time will tell... ;-)

Features & Nano Flash

Wasn't those features shot on a Flash XDR ?

Yes correct Mark but the XDR and nano capture exact same quality. Biggest difference is I can shoot a full day on XDR at 180Mb/s without changing a CF card or deal with data wrangling on the set. On the last feature we only exceeded 4 CF cards once during the entire show.

I see the XDR as superior due to its aforementioned 4 slots of CF card wonder and two (2)* Analogue channels of phantom powered XLR inputs. You can use the XDR to manually embed stereo line or Mic HD-SDI audio and/or Time Code into the HD-SDI stream ! Very useful features !

Yes you are right. I forgot about these features. We definitely use the full XLR and phantom power for mics on every feature (and everything else) I've shot. People sometimes overlook the extremely high quality, no compromise audio in the XDR. The audio capabilities are one of the major reasons I went with XDR instead of the nano.
