Re: Odyssey7Q 2.10.141 Release Notes

Just read through the 2.10.141 Release Notes...

Question for Convergent Designs.
At the end of the release notes it states "Adobe Premier FS700 Raw (CinemaDNG file support) is pending next update from Adobe to correct issue with highlights turning to pink."

Is this statement current and correct as of the latest July release of Premiere CC?

Thanks,
Herschel

Re: Odyssey7Q 2.10.141 Release Notes

I'm just digging into the release notes as well and have a few questions. The statement below is from the release notes...

• IMPROVED Sony FS700 4K/2K RAW S-Log2 to REC709 LUT
• IMPROVED Sony FS700 4K2HD S-Log2 to REC709 LUT
• IMPROVED Sony FS700 4K2HD REC709 (800%) to REC709 LUT
• IMPROVED Sony FS700 4K2HD REC709 color science (internal LUT) FIXED Occasional file
corruption when using PIXEL ZOOM while recording Apple ProRes 422(HQ)

It sound like there are three LUTS for post use? Where does one find and/or download these LUTS?

**************************************************************************************************** ***************
Monitoring LUTs for the LOG outputs from several popular cameras are now supported in HD
video recording in both Apple ProRes 422(HQ) and Uncompressed DPX (Odyssey7Q only). All
monitoring LUTs conform selected LOG signals to REC709. Monitoring LUTs are applied to the
OLED screen, video outputs and Image Analysis tools, but not to the recorded files.
Supported LOG Formats:
ARRI Log-C
Canon C-Log
Sony F3 S-Log
Sony F5 / F55 S-Log2
Sony F5 / F55 S-Log3
Sony FS700 S-Log2

I assumed I would see the above monitoring LUTS listed in the LUT selection box on the 7Q. Is this not the case? If so, how does one get these motoring LUTS and get them into the 7Q?

Re: Odyssey7Q 2.10.141 Release Notes

Dear Robert,

These LUT's are built into the Odyssey7Q, and these convert the Log Images to Rec. 709 when activated.

First, the Odyssey7Q must know if the camera is outputting Log Images to the Odyssey7Q (or Odyssey7).

For some cameras, this is easy.

For example, if you are in our FS700 Raw mode, and if the camera is in 2K Raw or 4K Raw mode,
then we know that the camera is a Sony FS700, and we can tell, via the data that we receive from the camera is S-Log 2 or not.

Then one can press the LUT button on the lower menu of the Odyssey7/7Q to enable the S-Log 2 to Rec. 709 LUT.

------------------------------------------------

The "Recording Menu" system of the Odyssey7/7Q becomes visible when one presses the "Gear" Icon in the upper left-hand corner of the OLED Panel.

(Note: This "Gear" Icon may look like a Sun or Star to some.)

In the Setup Menu, there are two menu items:

Monitor-->Record ...............This is used to select the recording mode of the Odyssey7/7Q

4:2:2/4:4:4 Source .............This allows one to specify both the camera Make (Sony, Canon, etc.)
.........................................And the type of log footage coming to the camera (if any).

The second menu item will not always be present, for example, if one is in FS700 Mode, we know that the camera is a FS700
and we can detect if the camera is outputting S-Log 2 or not.

For other specific cameras, their may be two menu items under the 4:2:2/4:4:4 Source menu.

For example, for Canon there are:

Canon ................................Select this one when the camera is not outputting Log footage.
..........................................If this one is selected the LUT button will be grayed out.

Canon C-Log .......................Select this one when the camera is outputting Log footage
..........................................The LUT button will be usable, and if enabled, the C-Log footage
..........................................will be displayed in Rec. 709.

The camera source setting will be displayed, for your convenience, in the upper menu, in the Video Input Mode/Frame Rate display.

Thus, one should always check this information display to ensure that you have the settings correct.

There are numerous camera selections available in this 4:2:2/4:4:4 Source menu.

These include:

ARRI
ARRI (Log-C)

Canon
Canon (C-Log)

Panasonic

Red

Sony FS700
Sony FS700 (S-Log 2)

Sony F3/Other (S-Log)

Sony F5/F55 (S-Log 2)
Sony F5/F55 (S-Log 3)

Sony Other

Other

I hope this helps.

Re: Odyssey7Q 2.10.141 Release Notes

Hey Dan,

Got it...that makes more sense now. Yes, i'm using the 7Q w/ a 2k/4k enabled FS700. I'm new to the 7Q
so I haven't wandered much from the 4k2HD mode...yet.

Thanks for the detailed explanation.

Dear Herschel,

Yes, the statement applies to the July 2014 release of Adobe CC 2014.

We know that Adobe is still working on it.

The updates are not out yet to the best of my knowledge.
