Cumulative Exposure Effect

Hi everyone,

I have has a request to use an existing video and average the contents of preceding frames into the current frame to give a long exposure effect. I am not sure how many frames back we need to go so it would be great if this was variable. It sounds like a fairly achieable effect and I suspect there is something available in AE already to do it but I can't find it.

Any Hints?

Thanks

Jim

Hi Jim. Have a look at the Echo effect (or Time Displacement might interest you as well).

Another possibility is to duplicate your layer several times, offset each layer by a single frame, and then set the transparency mode on each layer to Screen or Add. For a less intense effect, use less layers or turn off existing layers until you reach the desired look.
