I highly suggest that you invest in the best training available, and that is Tital Training. Or, if money is an issue, you can get training for $25 for the month at http://www.lynda.com or a little more from http://www.vtc.com

Watch the training, follow what they do. Then go through all of the online tutorials you can find.

Tital or Total?

There is no such thing as Tital Training, Steve... at least not on the internet...

Did you mean Total Training?

(BTW I enjoy your website, it is one of the first ones I came across when starting to learn DV & media stuff).

Creating Motion Graphics with After Effects, Vol. 1: The Essentials
by Trish Meyer, Chris Meyer

This book is absolutely one of the best ways to get up and running with motion graphics in AE.
Good luck!

I agree with Nick that the Meyers put out fantastic books. And they are such cool people as well. But for me, personally, I need to see someone actually do it first, so I can then read more about it and get better that way.

And yes, it is Total Training. I need to start using the spell checker I guess. I installed it, perhaps I should use it?

I agree, get the Chris and Trish Meyer Book to start, it is an amazing book.
Then get the total training DVDs, they will take a long time to get through but they teach you basically everything about the program. If you are a student or gov worker you might be able to get them for half off.
