Best Type of Image Sequence
What is the best type on image to export to when I export an image sequence? BMP? PNG? TGA? or some other?
|
Hi Alan,
It really depends on for which use. In one side each format have their own advantages and disadvantages, in the other side, it depends on which program will you use to process that frames (some software accept some, some other accept another ones). For example: bmp format doesnt save the alpha channel, tiff do it. all the best |
I'm looking for the type with least compression and most versatility. If I have to export to an image sequence what type should I use if I don't want any compression artifacts. I'm using After Effects so I can use lots of formates.
What type do high end vis FX houses use to render out of Maya or 3Ds Max? |
Tiff
I would go with TIFF, and when you export look for the setup options and select no compression. what sofware are you using for export?

After Effects 7... I wrote that above.
Thanx though. Tiff it will be. :-) |
It all depends on what you're using it for and where it's going. We've also used Maya 16-bit IFF (which includes alpha). If we were a high-end VFX house, I imagine we'd be using Cineon or OpenEXR (or some other HDR format).
