Wow, that is something I would like to see in my pocket,, lets hope that they have worked out all the problems and improvements we have talked about many times here, and that it does 720p25 and p50 at highest data-rate as well as 1080. Now to compare against eh AVCHD Pocket cameras from Panasonic.

(yeah, I know it's not the greatest form factor for an professional, and the price is high for the pocket, but it looks good).

Looks like they did listen. Check out the lens size and aperture. The black camera looks good, through the lens should aesthetically be more centred. Unlike what the engadget article claims, I see no mention of 1080p, but 1080i, but the good news is that it does do 720p, at the minimum recommendation for our level of use, and does 60p at the same rate as 1080i. I would prefer 18mb/s, but 12mb/s H264 is doable for me.

It is ironic that the good looking black version of the cam appears above the Redone article in engadget. Sort of looks like an Red Pocket.

Cmos, good listening, from outside Sanyo. Sanyo is the major manufacturer of small cameras on the market fro other brands, so they have sensor manufacturing ability. So makes me, wonder, Micron, Foveon, Cypress IBIS/smal, Altasens? Despite hopes, I guess it will be Micron, which with bigger aperture might be actually better in low light than HD1. If this has altitude extension (Micron and Cypress) we could be in for an ride (but an low noise high efficiency alternative also good). There are other manufacturers.

There is direct hard drive backup, even USB. Can anybody translate if ti is only as backup after shooting?

Wireless microphone, now these guys are really getting to it.

Forgot to mention has HDMI.

An AVCHD camera could theoretically be made better than this (24mb/s top, 5.1 channel etc) and I am waiting on an few cameras to compare, like the Panasonic AVCHD shoulder camera, but they are not here, and Sanyo is! I trust previouse issues have been largely sorted out, so good job on the camera Sanyo. Welcome to the next level.

Yeah! Who knows, as long as the performance is suitable I can work around other issues. I would like to see how it goes on the bike, but think 19mb/s is better. BTW, FFV has some low compressed SD recording stuff now.

Those specs put the DMX-HD1000 in direct competition with Panasonic’s HDC-HD7. I would pick the Panasonic over the Sanyo because of the advanced stabilizer but the 720 60p mode of the Sanyo is very tempting.

Neat! I knew they would get there eventually with 1080i pocket cameras but I didn't expect it so soon after the HD2, which was a big improvement already. Looks like a nice 16:9 LCD there too. I almost feel bad that I already bought an HV20, but I needed Mini-DV for archive purposes, so what's a guy to do?

All the sites describe the cam as still full 1080i. not p.

Hmm......this cam seems nice. 1920x1080 3CCD and 35 different frame rates all the way up to 60P. But...$16,000???.....dang!!
