Seems like another April fools joke but who knows. We shall know tomorrow after this silliness is over

There are probably more ridiculous iPhone applications in the (iPhone) real world.

It's very likely an April Fool's joke.

If it IS real, I honestly couldnt imagine ANY application where this would be useful...even if you could get a 35mm dof adapter, wouldn't the cameras fixed focus and auto exposure ruin anything buy the most basic shots?

I can't even imagine how much light you would need to get a decent picture out of an iphone with a DOF adapter.

I'd be more interested in an app that allows various frame rates. being able to get 24p and 60i on an iphone would make it a must-buy for me.

It's even got a video

Those "i"s are going to people's heads. I hope they don't receive a call in the middle of the shoot.

great product name though! Really impressed by the lengths they've gone to with this one - most people just use photoshop rather than building a fake product that actually works. Be interesting to see whether it'll be like the iphone steadicam and actually end up on the market. Can't imagine who'd want to use it though.

April Fools or not; this has already been achieved.

South Korean director Chan-wook Park (who directed Oldboy) filmed his last movie 'Night Fishing' entirely with iphones. He used a OWLE Bubo mount to attach a EnCinema 35mm adapter to his phone, which allowed him to shoot with a number of 35mm lenses.

The movie had a budget of around $135,000, and was released in mainstream cinemas in Asia.

Some behind the scenes photos and videos can be seen here:

In the end why?

I guess it gets some publicity for using the iPhone, but it's being used in a very traditional way rather than using the phone in some unique new means of telling a story. At least the cellphone film shot in S. Africa sounds like it was being used in a way that reflects its nature and how people use cellphones.

All of the crew (and some of the actors) had regular iphones, and they were all rolling at the same time. A lot of the shots used did not have the 35mm adapter - that was only used for specific artistic choices.

In fact the money was raised by a telecom company, so he was sponsored to use the iphone. The same thing happened with the South African movie 'SMS Sugarman' where Kaganof was sponsored by Sony Ericsson.

The difference is that Chan-wook Park is an established director with a large fanbase, so his movie will have a commercial impact.

Thought there must be a reason for using phones.

I came across an article on making the film.

As can be the case with big names on low budgets. services seem to have been offered by post production "partners", which adds to the value of their low budget.
