Apple To Make Macs In The States

Per the BBC today : BBC News - Apple's Tim Cook says some Macs will be made in US

Assemble more like it but a start. Who knows, maybe we'll start building some of the things we invented, back here in the UK.

This is really great news! Actually, I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for products manufactured here, not at all.

We're making Triumph motorcycles here in the UK now. Or assembling them at least. Triumph employ about 1000 people in Thailand, and some 500 here. That's probably a workable business model to extend into other fields. The UK is still very good at making HiFi equipment, but they tend to be much more expensive than the Chinese built stuff.

I think Triumph have it about right, to keep their products competitive while employing a sizeable number of Brits.

Anyway, fair play to Apple for trying to create some jobs in the west.

Must be a tax dodge or to get some nice government million dollar backing as that is why most companies come to the UK.

No doubt a flip over to mexico will be the next move for Apple?

Well, isn't that why so many 'merican companies left in the first place...? No matter how I look at this -- I think it's a very good sign. I'm certainly all for bringing back manufacturing to the US.
