New multi camera LANC controller announced

Sep. 4, 2014 - MAPLE GROVE, Minn. -- Applied Logic Engineering, Inc. announced today the release of their ALE718 Multiple Camera LANC Controller, the world’s first embedded system that can simultaneously control up to twenty Sony or Canon camcorders from a single source.

This all-in-one device allows synchronized control of power on, power off, record start/stop, zoom in, zoom out, focus auto/manual, focus near, focus far, and photo capture functions on all attached cameras from either the command pushbuttons on the ALE718 or alternatively through a Windows PC or Tablet connected to the controller.

In dual camera use, the ALE718 is a perfect solution for 3D (stereoscopic) recording, providing concurrent control of both cameras as well as sync information necessary for high quality recording.

The ALE718 comes standard with connections for up to two cameras, and its unique design allows for connection of additional cameras by adding expansion modules, each providing connections for two additional cameras. These expansion modules can be “stacked” to provide for connections for up to twenty cameras on a single ALE718 controller.

The ALE718 controller is the latest addition to Applied Logic’s remote camera control product line, the industry’s largest selection of embedded hardware and software for remotely controlling cameras and camcorders in commercial, scientific, and industrial applications.

Additional information can be obtained on the company’s web site -- Dual Camera LANC Controller.

I've wondered about this previously and for just two sony cameras could the wires simply be spliced?
