This latest 4K camcorder announcement seems to have been overlooked so far here

HC-X1E 4K & Full HD Camcorders - Panasonic UK & Ireland

Due out in December, but it begs the question what has happened to the AG UX180 and UX90.

Interesting that it appears on the Panasonic UK site as part of their consumer line up not on the pro site.

I think that is because it is an upgrade of the HC-X1000 which is in the consumer range. A consumer version of the AG-UX180 without SDI and who knows what else at this point.

Sony is so missing the boat here. If these specs line up with the UX180, they will have finally solved the crop factor issue in 60p that plagued the DVX200.

The low light samples also look pretty good if they were honestly lit, but you never know with marketing spin...

I think the DVX200 crop issue for UHD 60P is likely a processor issue and maybe they now have a faster processor though it may just be a choice of pixel readout on a new sensor. Will be interesting to find out where this sensor comes from.

I agree Sony could have had me as a customer for the Z150 if it had UHD 60P and a touch screen. After a long time with Sony I maybe moving to Panasonic !!!

Specs say it has video out and HDMI out, so I'd guess that video out would be SDI:

No, the video out from the photos is Composite NTSC/PAL 480i/576i out.

Oh yeah, I didn't notice. Still not a deal breaker for me, I never in 6 years used the HD-SDI out on my NX5U. If I need to output to a switcher, many now use HDMI in addition to SDI anyway.

Only in the last year have I used the SDI out on my NX5U to feed a Video Assist too bought in an attempt to make it last a little longer as I didn't like anything on the market as a replacement. 5" monitor is also nice. .

HDMI is simply not reliable over long distances and the connector is in no way guarded from damage in a live event scenario.

If Panasonic included Blackmagic's 12G-SDI (4:1 visually lossless compressed 4K 60p over 3G-SDI) in the UX180 I can see those get sold like hot cakes.

If you are using for run and gun situations, weddings and other SDI is useless. SDI is useful only for live streaming, broadcast or to use a long cable (for example a video wall). Of course you can use it for use external recorder but you can do the same and better with HDMI.

For me HC-X1 looks good but I need SDI option for my events, so I will still be looking between Sony Z150 and Panasonic AG-UX180.

But I am still wondering why Panasonic choose to have 2 similar cameras in similar price (Panasonic AG-UX90 & Panasonic HC-X1). Maybe AG-UX90 will go in a price lower than 2999$, maybe near in 2500$.

I agree they need to lower the price of the UX90 for those that are fine with 4K30p. When the consumer model outperforms the professional model in terms of the UX90, it would make sense to lower the price of the lower speced model to compete against Sony that much more.
