FCP Event at Macworld, Jan 10

Tickets are now on sale for the sixth annual FCPUG Network “SuperMeet” to be held Jan, 10, 2007 from 7:00PM - 10:00PM at the Mezzanine Club in downtown San Francisco CA., as part of Macworld Expo. This event promises to be the largest gathering of Final Cut Pro users and Gurus in the world.

Scheduled to appear on the agenda will be Associate Editor Sean Cullen who is currently working with legendary film editor, Walter Murch on Francis Coppola's new film, "Youth without Youth."
This movie (edited with FCP) is being filmed using the Sony HDC F950 HD Cam and marks the first time both Walter Murch and Francis Coppola are going "filmless." Sean will discuss the digital workflow they have developed.

Also scheduled to appear will be film editor Angus Wall who just completed “Zodiac” for director David Fincher. Angus will discuss the all tapeless workflow they developed for Zodiac. The film (edited with FCP) was shot using the Grass Valley Viper Film Stream camera and Angus will be joined on stage by tech consultant, Andreas Wacker.

Rounding out the evening will be an assortment of Show and Tells, a special
appearance by Apple, “World Famous Raffle,” and much more.

Tickets are only $10.00 per person and includes 2 raffle tickets. Tickets are now on sale online only and it is expected this event will sell out.

Y'all shoulda seen the long line of folks waiting to get into this thing last year.

As usual, I'll be hangin' out by the bar.

Michael Horton December 4th, 2006 12:44 PM

Was that you I was stepping on near the bar, Chris? Thought I recognized a DVI T-shirt. Course your face was in the floor if I recall.

:)

Going to be a good show. Looking forward to you buying me a drink.

Tickets are already selling fast.

Chris Hurd December 4th, 2006 01:01 PM

I can't rightly recall what happened after I had however many drinks it was that I had.

Looking forward to blacking out at this next one as well,

Bill Davis December 4th, 2006 07:03 PM

Well... SOME people got in.

Others of us waited for a phone call telling us whether the fire marshall would let any more bodies inside.

Sheesh.

On the upside, I got to spend the evening drowning my sorrows at the Bay View Boat Club where my brother has "commodore" status - so at least all the drinks were free.

Perhaps I'll try again this year.

Chris Hurd December 4th, 2006 08:18 PM

I have yet to make it to an LA version of the LA FCPUG Event, but this one and and the one at NAB are the two Big Nights of the year as far as I'm concerned.

Michael Horton December 5th, 2006 01:40 PM

Reason you didn't get in Bill was because last year we didn't allow anyone from Arizona to attend. This year we do. Of course you must pay double the ticket price.

And Chris, the monthly local lafcpug meetings is where we do serious drinking. I can't remember one of the meetings myself but heard they were good.

:-)
