CineForm upgrades for Blackmagic Intensity and Sony V1 + more

The entire CineForm product line-up has just been upgraded. The many new features include support for capture via the Black Magic Intensity card (http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/) within HDLink (currently a beta feature.) This includes pulldown extraction from 1080p24 cameras like the Sony V1, allowing effects shooters to bypass MPEG camera compression and go directly to 4:2:2 CineForm files. For those with Intensity cards with would like your feedback (and yes we are adding live preview.) Read more details here http://www.cineform.com/products/Tec.../Intensity.htm

Other major upgrade include features designed for the Sony HVR-V1 and the HVR-DR60 drive unit. Batch converting files from the DR60 and P2 media is now much easier.

That's wonderful news, David. Just so I understand correctly, HDMI output from the V1 to the Intensity's input can be converted to cineform intermediate on the fly?

David Newman February 10th, 2007 09:19 PM

Yes. On the fly is a minimum requirement otherwise you would need to buffer 120MB/s to disk then read back another 120MB/s to convert -- there aren't to many systems with a 240MB/s thru-put RAID. Fortunately the CineForm encoder is n-way threaded so it is very fast on modern multi-core systems, allowing you to capture without the RAID.
