I wonder if this can also take live input from component? That could possibly make it a cheap HD monitor, depending on price.

I've been waiting for one of these; I owned the non-LCD DV version in 1999. It's was great!

These are going to sell very quickly once it’s released and I know someone that will be in shock once I tell him that Sony finally released an HDV version of what he has. JVC already had there own portable HDV unit, it’s about time Sony decided to release one and to make up for them being late, the screen is much bigger than what it’s replacing.

Something like this is extremely handy to own.

Imagine the same unit with a replaceable, recordable hard disk option instead of the HDV tape recorder.... with an HDMI input, recording 4:2:2 in the field along with HD monitoring just by attaching a HDMI cable to a V1....

The design as it is annoys me big time for not serving a real customer need, rather emphasizing Sony's HDV efforts.
Sony may need to stop watching its belly button (probably the new XDCAM EX will be the 1st example of that).
