24p QuickTime?
I have a project which was shot in 24p advanced with the intention of making 24p DVDs.
I recently saw a QuickTime movie of the footage that the editor gave the sound editor. When I clicked on See More Info, it said "FPS: 29.97" and "Playing FPS: 30". Is this a QuickTime default? or was the footage somehow changed to 30p during editing? |
It hadto have been changed if QT is saying it is no longer 24p.
|
Are you sure? The file format is "Motion JPEG A, 720 x 480, Millions" and the name is "quicktimemotionjpeg.mov". Is anyone here certain as to whether or not this player can show movies at 24 fps or is 30 fps the default?
Again, this is not a DVD, just a file the editor created to show the sound editor the footage. |
QT is the video engine behind FCP. Any video file FCP creates can be played back by QT.

Thank you Dave.

Videos for post production sound / music are very often delivered as 29.97 fps.

I just found found this by chance, when looking up something else. according to the DVD studio pro manual, QuickTime assets are encoded as 29.97 fps even if they are 24 fps.
