Recording direct from dv camera to DVD-R recorder
I'm wondering if I can record direct from a consumer dv camera to DVD-R recorder. I need to record services at a church and recording to a computer is not really an option. Is this possible?
Thanks for any help! |
You should definitely be able to do this as long as the camera doesn't "go to sleep" like some consumer cameras do when there's no tape running. If you get a DVD recorder with firewire input then it will receive audio and video from the camera. Otherwise you could use s-video or composite video cables and separate audio, but the firewire connection should give the best quality.

Thanks for response
I will be getting an audio feed from the sound board, but the video from the camera. Thanks again!

In that case you could either record analog video from the camera and feed the audio directly to the DVD recorder, or feed the audio to the camera and then send the combined data to the DVD recorder via firewire.

Just record to tape as well as external DVD. That way your camcorder won't go to sleep and you'll have a backup in case something goes wrong with the DVD. The next week, just record over the same tape again.
