DIY Parts?

I'm thinking of building a dolly similar in design to the Microdolly (www.microdolly.com). Particularly, I'd like to use the same sort of wheels that they use - it's a single wheel on every end and each wheel has a groove in the middle that hugs the track. Does anyone know a source for pre-fab wheels like this? Or, any suggestions on how to fashion my own?

Thanks a lot.

Hey there :)

Sounds like a fun project.
I don't know about any single wheels with tracking in them.

You may be able to get a similar effect putting two large 80mm rollerblade wheels together or something.

If you are going for that solution, i recommend you use high quality bearings, and good wheels.

you are giving the wheels much more load on to the axis, than you would in other designs.
Some of the guys on the forums here has allready built similar projects, and is complaining about the squeeky sounds of the axis and the wheels.

in my DIY Dolly i choose a V shaped structure for the wheels.
they don't make a sound at all :)

boat trailer rollers are something that Liza Trainer uses. They're pretty cheap. She spins them on a dremel or a drill and uses a dowel wrapped in sandpaper to smooth the groove out so it rolls well on the pvc.

Woah... thanks for the link. Ms. Trainer linked to an place that supplies just what I'm looking for. If anyone else is interested - http://www.overtons.com/modperl/prod...ers-/-Hardware.

Thanks for all of the help.
